Since Be Centre was first established, we have been fortunate to receive huge support from our community. We still don’t receive any Government grants or funding, so the support of our donors, corporate sponsors, fundraisers and volunteers is invaluable. Without you, we simply wouldn’t be able to do what we do!
How You Can Help
Currently, unresolved childhood trauma costs Australia $9.1 billion per year in welfare. At Be Centre, we’re firmly focused on breaking this cycle, and believe that we’d need far fewer suicide prevention services if we address children’s trauma early on. Through our Play Therapy programs, this is what we’re here to do.
Be Centre is a public benevolent institution endorsed by the Australian Tax Office as a deductible gift recipient under the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 with status 1.
There are many ways you can help us continue to grow, and provide a better future for more and more vulnerable children.
Donate
Whether it’s $20 or $2,000, your cash donation will make a lasting difference to the lives of children and families. You can make one-off or recurring donations online, or by calling us. Donations over $2 are tax deductible, and you can see what you’re helping to fund here.
Fundraising
Keen to have a bigger impact? Fundraising is a great way to go. Whether you take part in an event like Sun-Herald City2Surf, or organise your own, fundraising can really make a huge difference to Be Centre financially – and it’s also a chance to spread the word about our work amongst your friends, family and community.
If you’re organising your own event, here are some thought-starters – if you have any original ideas to add, please let us know!
- Hold a charity morning tea at work, university or school.
- Host a trivia night.
- Run a cake stall or sausage sizzle.
- Sell stuff you don’t want online (or via a garage sale) and donate the proceeds.
- Organise a wine tasting, shopping tour or movie night, asking all attendees to include a donation in their ticket price.
- Ask for donations to be made to Be Centre in lieu of gifts for birthdays, weddings, Christmas or other celebrations.
If you’re taking part in an event you can also set up a page on JustGiving and start fundraising immediately and or get in touch to request a fundraising pack.
Volunteering
At Be Centre, we rely on our generous volunteers to provide all sorts of support – from fundraising event assistance, to admin and parent support. Previous experience and qualifications are not mandatory – just a Working with Children Check and a passion to help!

I was really motivated by the work Be Centre does in providing early support for children who are really struggling with situations they often have no control over. I wanted to be part of Be Centre's fantastic work and help in making a difference.

Scholarships
For those who cannot afford to pay for Be Centre’s vital therapeutic support, we offer a scholarship program. Offered to those who are most in need, these scholarships fund 12 weeks of Play Therapy to disadvantaged children – and can be funded by anyone willing to lend their support.
Funding a scholarship costs just $2,000 – and it’s a gesture that can create a brighter future for a child in difficulty. Interested in creating a scholarship? Please get in touch!
Leave a gift in your Will
Bequests can have a lasting impact. Providing early intervention services to those struggling to help them grow with prospects, and not problems. There are two ways you can do this:

- If you already have a Will you can add a codicil (a short legal amendment) to your existing Will
- Or create a free Will now and nominate Be Centre as your preferred charity
