MAKING A DIFFERENCE
BE CENTRE’S FIRST IMPACT MEASUREMENT REPORT
Through funding received from the Vernon Foundation, Be Centre engaged Social Ventures Australia to deliver our very first Impact Measurement Report.
While our ‘outputs’ are very important i.e. the number of children we support each year, what’s more important are the ‘outcomes’ such as increasing self-esteem, reducing anxiety, building resilience and social confidence. Our impact is created by these outcomes.
Overall, the Report highlighted the significant positive impact being created by the work we do at Be Centre for children and families.
We are thrilled with the findings as it is confirmation of the important early intervention work we do at Be Centre and the lives we have touched.

DID YOU KNOW?
HOW BE CENTRE IS SUPPORTING THE FLOOD REGIONS
In 2020/21 Be Centre supported many communities impacted by bushfires including the south coast of NSW, Kangaroo Island, and WA. On the south coast of NSW we developed and delivered two “Festival of Play” programs that each ran over 3 consecutive days helping communities come together, connect and play. For children, 1000 Play Bags were distributed, each one containing carefully selected items to support their need to play out their difficult experiences.
We are in the process of securing funding so we can support critically affected flood-impacted communities in NSW. The clinical team are currently curating ‘Flood’ Therapeutic Play Bags for children, specifically designed to help children with the anxiety and stress that results from natural disasters. Beyond this first phase of flood assistance we are planning other initiatives in consultation with the local communities themselves to ensure relevant support.

RECENT EVENTS SUPPORTING BE CENTRE
Since the start of 2022 we have been supported by some fantastic events and fundraising activities. Special thanks to:
4 Feb 2022: UnLtd’s Big Kahuna Surf Competition harnessed the media industry and provided team building and fundraising to support their children’s charities including Be Centre. Special thanks for Tom Carroll our wonderful ambassador for getting behind this event and giving the participants a special ‘aloha’ from the World Surfing Champs in Hawaii. See the quick video here.
25 Feb 2022: Rotary Upper Northern Beaches are a longtime supporter of Be Centre and hosted their community art exhibition, with an astounding 220 artworks from local artists, raising funds for four charities including Be Centre.
10 Mar 2022: Laing & Simmons Young Property hosted artist Matthew Wilcock (Outfall Art) ‘Love’ exhibition in their Careell Bay Studio for the month of March with 25% of sales supporting Be Centre. A truly immersive exhibition with sustainable materials sourced from Pittwater. Matthew’s family has used play therapy in the past to support challenging times. Matt understands the value this therapeutic approach has and wanted to provide funds to help vulnerable children in need.
25 Mar 2022: The Pittwater Artist Trail exhibition at the Newport Community Hall was a stunning collection of artworks and included a silent auction with proceeds supporting Be Centre. A big thank you to the organisers, Jan Cristaudo and Karen Hicks.
2 Apr 2022: The ‘Trail Heroes’ running event was created by Susie Campbell off the back of her 2020 50km ultra marathon to raise money for Be Centre. The community got behind this event with ‘Trail Hero’ runners and walkers hitting the trails to complete various lengths of the course which wound through St Ives National Park. Susie herself ran the whole 50km trail. This event will be back in 2023 – all welcome!
